Footprints in the sand
For me the most iconic image of wild Zimbabwe is these huge footprints in the sand. Up at first light, there’s nothing nicer than walking out in the cool and quiet dawn to look at footprints in the sand as the sun rises. The sharp hooves of an antelope near the water, the fresh new tracks of wild dogs as they set out on the hunt, the spoor of a hyena that had been oh so close, and then right down the road, a few metres from your flimsy tent, a huge elephant had walked in the soft sand. This is our beautiful, wild Zimbabwe. ©Cathy Buckle 2023 https://cathybuckle.co.zw/
